My research interests involve exploring the consequences of mechanical constraints. The application of engineering principles to human andÌýanimal locomotion yields accurate and testable assessments of the physical limits of an organism, which provides limits and pressures in evolutionary ecology. I study comparative biomechanics across multiple taxa, from birds, to lizards and insects.

I am always interested in talking with potential postgraduate researchers who are interested in applying biomechanics to their current interests - please don't hesitate to reach out to discuss creating your own project!Ìý

In addition, I am currently seeking students for the following projects (please email me for more details!):

(1) comparative and functional morphology of semi-aquatic birds

(2) functional consequencs of adhesive toepads and gripping claws in Anolis

(3) energetic consequences of added mass to flight in passerines

(4) aerodynamic performance in relation to dispersal ability in drosophila (in collaboration with Dr. Comeault [MEFGL])

(5) functional anatomy and performance of cichlid feeding (in collaboration with Dr. Turner)
