‘Incredible Years’ to open Health & Wellbeing Lecture Series

Incredible Years’- an award winning programme which supports young children and their families, and the research into its effectiveness provides the subject for a public lecture which takes place at 6pm on Tuesday, the 5th October at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

This is the first in a Health & Wellbeing Lecture Series of lectures that are open to all and are organised by ᰮԹ in partnership with Coleg Llandrillo Cymru.

The evening begins with the research-based lecture, ‘Children & Families/Incredible Years’, followed by refreshments and an opportunity for networking. The evening will then finish with an interactive session lead by Coleg Llandrillo Cymru. The lectures are free to attend. The series will appeal to a broad audience from health sector employees to expert patients, students and members of the public.

The Incredible Years programmes for parents, teachers and children are very effective and friendly programmes to help us support our children. They have been embraced within Wales following positive findings from rigorous research undertaken by the research team at ᰮԹ, led by Professor Judy Hutchings and Dr. Tracey Bywater. Free training places are offered across Wales to train service delivery staff across Wales, funded by WAG, and free parent programmes are offered in a variety of settings.

Dr Keith Griffiths, Executive Director of Therapies & Health Science at the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board said: "This lecture series is extremely relevant to people working in healthcare, providing education to healthcare workers and to citizens in general. The subject headings should be of interest to the population as a whole in advising them about some high profile health and wellbeing issues"

Dr Lindsay Jones of ᰮԹ said “this exciting development will open up Bangor’s research excellence to the benefit of all, and is a fantastic example of the working relationship between ᰮԹ and Coleg Llandrillo Cymru”.

Supported by the Aber-Bangor Skills Centre and the National Leadership & Innovation Agency for Healthcare (NLIAH), the lecture series will present cutting-edge research on health and wellbeing topics in a friendly and accessible format. There will also be opportunities to find out more about health and wellbeing courses at ᰮԹ and Coleg Llandrillo Cymru.

Although the events are free, registration is essential to book your place.
