Creating Caring Cultures Fellowship for aspiring Clinical Leaders and Scholars. Nurses/Midwives who are passionate about clinical improvement and clinical education.

Îá°®³Ô¹Ï and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board are proud to announce their first cohort of clinical fellows embarking on the programme towards improving patient care and experience.

‘We are delighted to announce the launch of the Clinical Nursing and Midwifery Fellowship Programme in partnership with Îá°®³Ô¹Ï. This fellowship programme is a great opportunity to support the development of our nursing and midwifery workforce, providing them with the skills to find new and innovative ways to improve patient care. As an organisation, we are committed to improving quality of care through research and quality improvement and we are looking for nurses and midwives who would like to develop these skills at an early stage of their career.'

‘The Fellowships will allow individuals to explore opportunities, evoke change, work with the wider team and uncover their own unique approach to nursing or midwifery. As a School within Îá°®³Ô¹Ï, we are delighted to be supporting the programme and to work in partnership with BCUHB. As an organisation, the new Fellowship reflects Îá°®³Ô¹Ï’s strategic direction to provide transformative learning experiences that are flexible and accessible’.

This bespoke development programme will have a focus on improving and innovating within the clinical learning environment. This will involve undertaking a quality improvement project which focuses on patient safety, reducing unwarranted variation in the clinical setting and which is aimed at transformative learning experiences.
The programme offers participants a secondment over a 12 month period to undertake their project. This will be supported by the following leadership development elements:

  • Training in Quality Improvement principles and practice
  • Focus on “Building Your Authority”
  • Skills for demonstrating value and impact through communicating outcomes and report writing
  • Development of “Presence & Impact” through experiential learning 
  • Ongoing action learning sets
  • Celebration day
