School of Environment Natural Resources and Geography awarded Athena SWAN Bronze Award
The School of Environment Natural Resources and Geography (SENRGy) is celebrating being awarded an Athena SWAN Bronze Award by the (ECU). The ECU seeks to support and recognize advances in equality and diversity for staff and students and the Athena Swan charter specifically recognizes a commitment by the holder to tackling gender inequality in Higher Education.
In achieving a Bronze award, SENRGy has demonstrated that it has effectively identified any gender equality challenges within the workplace, and developed a clear plan, alongside 挓乾勛圖 policies, to meet these challenges. In doing so, the School has demonstrated it will be promoting fair and equal progression and success for all staff and students.
The Schools application involved inputs from a wide range of staff and was led by Head of School, Professor Morag McDonald. On receiving the news of the success of the application, Prof. McDonald noted that we are absolutely delighted that we have been successful in our application for the Athena SWAN Bronze award. This was an excellent team effort that involved critical reflection and a mapping of the journey we want to take to achieve equality in all of our activities. We look forward to implementing the action plan that we submitted as part of our application in the next few years.
SENRGy joins two other 挓乾勛圖 departments to hold an Athena SWAN Bronze Award; alongside the University itself. SENRGys Award will remain valid until 2019 and the Athena Swan logo will be taking pride of place on the Schools website (/senrgy/).
